Pattern Notes

  • Turning ch2s don’t count as a st.

  • Stitches in (brackets) go into the same st.

The Pattern

Using yarn A, ch16.

R1: dc into 3rd ch from hook, dc across row, fasten off [14]

R2: using yarn B, ch2, dc dec, 10dc, dc dec, fasten off [12]

R3: using yarn A, ch2, dc dec, 8dc, dc dec, fasten off [10]

R4: using yarn B, ch2, dc dec, 6dc, dc dec, turn [8]

R5: ch2, dc dec, 4dc, dc dec, turn [6]

R6: ch2, dc dec, 2dc, dc dec, fasten off [4]

R7: attach yarn B into the start of the beginning ch, ch2, dc across row, fasten off [14]

R8: using yarn A, ch2, dc dec, 10dc, dc dec, turn [12]

R9: ch2, dc dec, 8dc, dc dec, turn [10]

R10: ch1, sc dec, 2sc, (hdc, dc, picot), (dc, hdc), 2sc, sc dec.

At this point, you can fasten off if you don't want to do the border. Otherwise, ch1 and sc all around the coaster. You can place scs wherever feels right to you, I like to put 2 in the side of every dc and 1 in between them.

Eye

Using yarn A, sew the eye on.

Wing

Attach yarn C into a sc above the 2nd stripe of yellow.

R1: (ch3, 2tr), (2tr, ch3, ss), (ss, ch3, 2tr), (2tr, ch3, ss), fasten off.
